Registration on eBay – It’s easy and free

To buy or sell on eBay, you need to become a registered member of the website. Registration on EBay is simple and free. As a registered eBay member, you can shop on eBay and participate in the world's largest online community of buyers and sellers. You need to follow following steps to register on eBay:

Step 1: Enter contact and other personal information

You need to supply your contact information like name, address and phone number for registration. Date of birth is also required so as to ascertain your age to be above 18 years.

Step 2: Enter email address

You have to provide an email address which can be checked immediately as eBay send an email to activate your account. Also, this email address is used by eBay to contact you when you have placed the winning bid for an item you'd like to buy or when someone has placed a winning bid for an item you're trying to sell.

It also provides a way for eBay buyers and sellers to contact you. To prevent any typographical errors, you are required to type your email id twice. You may be asked to place your credit/ debit card on record in case your email id cannot be used to verify your identity.

Step 3: Read and accept the eBay User Agreement and Privacy Policy

To continue the registration process you need to accept he eBay User Agreement and Privacy policy.

Step 4: Choose a User ID, password, and a secret question

Next, you need to make an eBay user id and password for yourself. This is required to sign in to eBay every time you logon. Also, a secret question needs to be selected by you and an answer to it is to be typed in. This is used to verify your identity in case you loose or forget your password.

The password needs to be entered twice to prevent typographical errors. This password will be asked while buying or selling on eBay in order to prevent misuse of account. This password is kept secret and only asterisk (*) is displayed.

Step 5: Check your email and activate your account

When you have completed and submitted this registration form, eBay will send you a registration Email. You now have to activate your account following the instructions in the email.
