How to Find On eBay

Finding the item

To locate an item on eBay you can either search it or browse to reach it. Each method has its own advantages, depending on what you are looking for.


Search


Searching on eBay is fast and simple. Just type in two or three explanatory words about the item in the search box and search the desired item. The search option provides you with sophisticated options that allow you to narrow your search down.

Ways to search your desired item

Search from Home page – Open eBay’s home page and type few words describing the item you need to search in the Search box. Click the search button to get a listing of related products. e.g. Type in “Wrist Watch” to get a listing of wrist watches on offer. You can press the enter key or click the search button to get the listing. You can use various search options to narrow your keyword based search upon several search criteria like price, location, category, etc.

The search result page lists includes a lot of information about each item displayed. There are several options to reduce the number of items displayed on the search result page. There are tabs, drop-down lists and links that allow you to do so. When you search, on results page items are ordered according to their time left. Item with the least amount of time left is at the top. If you want to change the sort order of items, you can do it by using “Sort by” menu button.

Want it Now Post – If, still you cannot find the desired item, you can create a want it now posting to tell millions of ebay members what you are looking for. You simply enter what you are looking for focusing on keywords that best describe the item. You can also describe the item in detail. Next you have to choose a category where the post will be displayed. This feature also allows you to add a picture of the desired item.

Any response by eBay members to your post will be emailed to you. Your post shows only your eBay member ID, thus maintaining your privacy. If you want to delete or end your post and stop receiving responses, you can delete the post at any time. You can repost an ended post. Simply, go to My eBay and click on the “Want it Now” link. Here, you can see all active and inactive posts. Find the post you want to reactivate and click the “Repost” link.

You must meet the following conditions to put a “Want it now” Posting –

- You must be a registered user
- You must be ID verified
- You must have credit card on file
- You must have a feedback score of 5 or above

Browse


Browse in eBay allows you to window shop or stroll around till you find something of interest to buy. When you browse on eBay, you click through categories and lists of items, exploring as you go, until you find something you're interested in.

Similar to Search, Browse result page also has options to do further filtering of the items displayed. The items on a browse result page are ordered according to the time seller listed them. The newly listed items are on the top. Any new item added comes on the top and older items are pushed down the listing.
