Before you place a bid on an item or use Buy It Now, make sure that the seller's payment options will work for you. Important factors that you should keep in mind are:·

  • Is it traceable and is there proof of payment?
  • Is the method fast and convenient?
  • How secure is it?
  • What is the liability coverage in case something goes wrong?

There are a number of payment formats on eBay. Most sellers offer more than one option. Before selecting a method of payment, be confident that your payment options offer more protection than others. Most payment options are also covered by the eBay Standard Purchase Protection Program for up to $200 (minus $25 for processing costs).

Common payment methods available using the Pay Now button include:0

Cheque, postal order or money order

This payment method takes 7-10 business days to process and post to your account. This time duration does not include weekends and holidays. While making your payment with cheques you must also submit payment coupon with it and send it to the address written on coupen.

Direct Debit from your bank account

This is convenient method of making your regular payments on your eBay account. To use this payment method you only need to provide your Bank/Building Society account number and bank sort code, and eBay will automatically send a request to your Bank/Building Society to obtain authority to deduct your monthly invoice amount from your account. This debit will occur within 7-10 days after the receipt of your invoice.

Paying with a credit card

You can also use your credit card on your eBay account for regular monthly payment. It is monthly payment system. Each month eBay will automatically charge your invoice amount directly to your credit card on file. This debit will occur within 7-10 days after the receipt of your invoice.

Paying with Pay Pal


Paypal is online payment method that enables eBay members to pay for their item easily and quickly. By using paypal you can send payments quickly and securely online using a credit card or bank account. PayPal is a fast, easy, and secure way to receive payments on eBay. It is the preferred payment method for most eBay buyers and sellers. However, you should first check that the seller offers PayPal as a payment method for their listing.

Before you can send a payment using PayPal:

  • You need to have a PayPal account
  • The seller needs to offer PayPal as a payment method in their listing

To pay for an item using PayPal follow these simple steps:

1. After you've won an item, click on the Pay Now button.

2. Select your shipping address and confirm the payment details. If the seller hasn't specified shipping costs but you know what they are, you can enter the shipping information yourself.

3. Select PayPal as the payment method to go to the PayPal site.

4. Log in to your PayPal account. If you do not already have a PayPal account, you can sign up for an account.

5. From your PayPal account, review your payment and select how you would like to fund your PayPal payment (for example, using a checking account, credit card, or PayPal balance).

6. Click the Pay button to send the payment. The payment confirmation page opens.

7. When you send the payment, PayPal sends the payment status to eBay, your seller is notified of your payment, and you receive an email receipt for the transaction.


You can check status of your PayPal payment by follow these simple steps:

1. Click on the “My eBay” button at the top of any eBay page

2. Items I've Won section, click on the drop-down icon (small triangle) that is located under the Action column for the item.

3. Select View Payment Details. The Buyer's Payment Status page opens. By clicking on the "View Payment Details" link you can also view your payment status for each item you've paid.


Downloading your PayPal account history

You can download your PayPal account history into a file that can be used with Quicken, QuickBooks, and most common spreadsheet and database applications. PayPal account history contain detail information about mode of payment, money requests, payments received, withdrawals and all other transactional details.
